New webmaster
Starting November 2007, Mrs. Nicole Potters is the information specialist for the OTB Research Centre. She took over the corresponding responsibilities from Jaap de Lange, who is focusing on Civil Engineering and Applied Earth Sciences. Nicole Potters is the webmaster for the Virtual Knowledge Centre OTB starting January 2008.
TBM-OTB Faculty Library closed
The TBM-OTB Faculty Library is closed since July 9. All unique books and other materials were transferred to the Central Library across the street.
Science made available to a wider public
Professor Salomon Kroonenberg (geology) received the Eureka Award for his contribution to the dissemination of science to a wider public, with the publication of “De Menselijke Maat: de Aarde over 10.000 jaar”, discussing among others, the facts and myths about global warming, what we can do and what we cannot do about it. The Eureka Award is awarded annually by NWO to the three most outstanding initiatives (books, media and complete works) to make scientific issues available to a wider public. In the book category, Kroonenberg received the Furore Book Award.

Op deze pagina wordt u op de hoogte gehouden van de laatste ontwikkelingen rondom het Kenniscentrum Onderzoeksinstituut OTB. Mocht u vragen hebben of suggesties voor aanvullingen of verbeteringen neem dan s.v.p. contact op met de beheerder van het Kenniscentrum Onderzoeksinstituut OTB.
Nieuwe beheerder
Met ingang van november 2007 is Mw. Nicole Potters informatiespecialist voor het Onderzoeksinstituut OTB. Zij neemt de bijbehorende taken over van Jaap de Lange, die zich richt op Civiele Techniek en Technische Aardwetenschappen. Nicole Potters is met ingang van januari 2008 de beheerder van het Virtueel Kenniscentrum OTB.
Sluiting faculteitsbibliotheek TBM-OTB (juli 2007)
De faculteitsbibliotheek TBM-OTB is m.i.v. 9 juli 2007 gesloten. Alle unieke boeken en andere materialen hebben in de maanden mei en juni een plaats gekregen in de Centrale Bibliotheek.
Wetenschap voor het brede publiek
Professor Salomon Kroonenberg (geologie) heeft met zijn boek ‘De menselijke maat: de aarde over tienduizend jaar’ de Eurekaprijs 2007 gewonnen. In dit boek gaat Kroonenberg o.a. in op de paniekverhalen die de ronde doen over klimaatverandering, wat we er aan kunnen doen en vooral ook níet kunnen doen. De Eurekaprijs wordt jaarlijks toegekend door NWO aan de drie beste prestaties op het gebied van het populariseren van wetenschap en kennis naar het brede publiek (boeken, media en oeuvre). Kroonenberg won in de boekencategorie: de Furore Boekenprijs.
