Closing of the Library in the Applied Physics building.
The library in the Applied Physics building will be closed July 1st.
The collection
All unique books and journals (not available elsewhere at the University) have already been transferred to the Central Library and will remain accessible at that location.
All duplicate books will be returned to the Departments IST, MSP, NS and R3. Each Department has received an inventory of duplicate books and has been given the opportunity to mark those books which it wants to retain.
All duplicate journals will be offered to the University of Brasow, Romania. In this way we support a fellow university that has much less resources.
The services
Most library services are available from your workplace at the Faculty:
- of the library catalogue via http://aleph.library.tudelft.nl/
- of e-journals; this can be done from home, provided you install the VPN-client (see http://www.dto.tudelft.nl/thuisw/vpn/index.htm).
- for books from the collection: if requested before 11AM, these books are delivered the same day at the Applied Physics porter's loge - from there they will be distributed via internal mail. This service is free of charge.
- for books not in the collection. This is a paid service, only for employees.
- for copies of journal papers which are not available online; these will be mailed in PDF format within four office days (usually within one day). This is a paid service, only for employees.
- of the electronic collection through the VKC (Virtual Knowledge Centre) Applied Physics via http://www.library.tudelft.nl/physics/, the VKC Nanoscience via http://www.library.tudelft.nl/nanoscience/ and the VKC Radiation Science (starting august 1st).
- for journal volumes from the closed collection; available for viewing at the Central Library.
- suggestions: via the central library website, under 'catalogue'.
- acquisitions: via the VKC websites.
- and loan period renewals: via the online catalogue
- in using the library services: via the Library helpdesk (tel. 85678, daily from 8.30 AM - 5 PM or via library@tudelft.nl)
Returning borrowed materials can be done in several ways:
a.) At the Central Library and the remaining library branches in other buildings
b.) At the porter's loge, only for employees
c.) Via internal mail (please address to "TU Delft Library, afdeling Leverantie")
Payment of fines (should you fail to return books or other materials in observance of the loan period) can be done at any desk. When the fines exceed €2,50 it is not possible to borrow any additional materials.
At the Central Library you can:
- and borrow from the open collection (naturally, these books can also be requested via the online catalogue)
- copy and/or scan journal papers that are not available online.
- personal assistance
- a Library Pass
- use of the study places

Sluiting bibliotheeklocatie gebouw TN
De bibliotheeklocatie in het gebouw TN is per 1 juli 2005 gesloten.
De collectie
Alle unieke boeken en tijdschriften (niet ergens anders in de TU aanwezig), zijn inmiddels overgebracht naar de Centrale Vestiging van de bibliotheek en blijft daar beschikbaar.
Alle dubbele boeken gaan in eerste instantie terug naar de afdelingen IST, MSP, NS en R3. Elke afdeling heeft een overzichtslijst gehad met alle dubbele boeken erop en kan aangeven welke boeken zij graag wil behouden.
Alle dubbele tijdschriften worden aangeboden aan de universiteit in Brasow, Roemenië. De TUD helpt op deze manier een bevriende universiteit die over veel minder middelen kan beschikken.
De dienstverlening
De meeste diensten van de bibliotheek zijn beschikbaar vanaf uw werkplek op de faculteit:
- Raadplegen van de catalogus via http://aleph.library.tudelft.nl/ .
- Raadplegen van e-journals; dit kunt u ook thuis doen indien u de VPN-client installeert (zie http://www.dto.tudelft.nl/thuisw/vpn/index.htm).
- Aanvragen van boeken uit de collectie voor uitleen; deze boeken worden dezelfde dag nog bezorgd (mits voor 11 uur aangevraagd) en bij de portiersloge afgegeven - vandaar vindt interne verspreiding plaats. Dit is een kostenloze dienst.
- Aanvragen van boeken van buiten de collectie. Dit is een betaalde dienst, alleen voor medewerkers.
- Aanvragen van kopieën van artikelen die niet online beschikbaar zijn; u krijgt ze als pdf gemaild binnen vier werkdagen (meestal binnen een dag). Dit is een betaalde dienst, alleen voor medewerkers.
- Raadplegen van de digitale collectie via het VKC (virtueel kenniscentrum) Technische Natuurkunde via http://www.library.tudelft.nl/physics/, het VKC Nanoscience via http://www.library.tudelft.nl/nanoscience/ en het VKC Stralingswetenschappen (vanaf 1 augustus).
- Aanvragen van gebonden jaargangen van tijdschriften in het gesloten magazijn, voor inzage op de centrale vestiging.
- Suggesties doen voor de collectie (via de website, onder 'catalogus').
- Raadplegen van het overzicht met nieuwe aanwinsten (via de VKC's).
- Reserveren en verlengen van geleend materiaal via de online catalogus.
- Hulp en ondersteuning bij het gebruik van bibliotheekdiensten via de Klantenservice (tel. 85678, dagelijks van 8:30 - 17:00 uur of via library@tudelft.nl )
Inleveren van geleend materiaal kan op verschillende manieren:
a.) Bij de Centrale Vestiging of de gehandhaafde balies in andere gebouwen.
b.) bij de portiersloge, alleen voor medewerkers.
c.) d.m.v. interne post (adresseren aan TU Delft Library, afdeling Leverantie)
Het betalen van boetes voor te laat inleveren kan aan elke balie (als de boetes meer dan €2,50 bedragen kunnen geen nieuwe boeken geleend worden).
In de centrale vestiging kunt u terecht voor:
- Raadplegen en lenen uit de open opstelling (deze boeken kunnen uiteraard ook aangevraagd worden via de catalogus).
- Inzien, kopiëren en/of scannen van artikelen die niet on-line beschikbaar zijn.
- Persoonlijk advies.
- Het aanvragen van een lenerspas.
- Studieplekken.
