CR regionEN, Wysiwyg textEN Managing your EndNote Library Sorting records You can sort your records by clicking on the column headers. For more specific sorting, choose Tools -> Sort Library.... Dutch surnames often start with "de" or "van der". To skip these words when sorting, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Sorting and add these words to the Author Field list. In the Title Field, you might want to add "A", "An" and "The". Removing duplicate references To check for duplicate references, go to References -> Find Duplicates. By default, EndNote compares the "Author", "Title", "Reference Type" and "Year" fields to find duplicates. To alter this default setting and choose a different set of fields, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Duplicates. Back-up and recovery Be sure to back up your EndNote library regularly, or save your library on a backed-up network drive. In EndNote X5, you can easily create a compressed copy of your whole library by using File -> Compressed Library (.enlx) ... . In older versions of EndNote (before X), make sure that you copy both the *.enl file and the *.Data folder. EndNote has a recovery option, but this only works on the rare occasion that adding or viewing records results in an error message. CR regionNL, Wysiwyg textNL |
