Inserting citations in Word While writing your paper in Word, you can easily add citations from EndNote. A bibliography will automatically be created at the end of your document.
Changing citation output styles and formatting bibliographies You can change the output style of the citations and the resulting bibliography, by choosing Many journals require you to use a specific output style. EndNote X5 comes with over 2500 styles, but you can also create your own or make changes to existing styles. See the EndNote manual for this advanced option.
Editing citations To edit a citation, choose Edit & Manage Citation(s) from the EndNote toolbar or menu in Word. By this you get a list of all citations in the document, which you can edit one by one. You can:
If you want to create a separate reference list or bibliography, go to EndNote and select the references you want to include. Select the output style that you want to use, then choose Edit -> Copy Formatted or use “Ctrl+K”. Paste the references into any Office application (e.g. Word, Powerpoint, Outlook). Preparing your document for publication Word uses field codes to maintain links between the inserted citations and EndNote. You should remove these links before you submit your document for publication. Choose Convert to Plain Text from the EndNote toolbar or menu in Word.
