Scifinder Scholar installation
Since the 1st of januari 2002, the TU Delft Library has access to Scifinder Scholar for 3 users at the same time excluding the option for "sub-structure searching". To be able to use Scifinder, the required sofware must first be installed on your PC. To download the software, an active blackboard account is requested. To activate this account go to Blackboard and follow the “activate account” procedure. Installation for PC Install new version Scifinder 2007 (PC): The software is available via de Blackboard TU Delft distribution server: Log in with your personal Blackboard account ID and password. Then accept the License requirements and go to Scifinder on the Software list and downlaod Scifinder 2007 Preferably, choose the directory c:\temp to save the software. 2) Subsequently, the file Scifinder 2007.exe must be "unzipped". Go to c:\temp and double-click on Scifinder 2007 and click on unzip. This file contains 4 files that must be saved in a temporary directory on a local hard disk after unzipping. Preferably, choose C:\temp. - the dutch version of the instruction manual (sfsnl.txt) - the english version of the instruction manual (sfseng.txt) - the SFSch installer (SFS2007.exe) - the site.prf file (site.prf) 3) Close all programs before beginning the installation. 4) Installing scifinder: double click on SFS2007.exe. Follow the standard installation procedure. Use the standard directory (C:\Sfschlr) for the installation of the software. If an old version has already been installed then use the same directory for the new version. 5) Answer YES if you're asked:"another version of Scifinder Scolar exists in directory. If you continue installation files from existing version will be overwritten. Would you like to continue installation in this directory?" It is recommended to choose the standard installation. Answer with NO if you 're asked the following question: Do you have a disk labeled custom site files? 6) Install the Scifinder Scholar toolbar for Microsoft Internet Explorer. 7) Scifinder is now installed in the directory c:\sfschlr. Restart your PC after installation. 8) To be able to make a connection with Chemical Abstracts, the file site.prf (uit c:\temp) must be copied to the C:\sfschlr directory. 9) Start the application via Start, Programs, SciFinder Scholar 2007, SciFinder Scholar (or by using a quick-launch icon on your desktop that refers to c:\sfschlr\sfschlr.exe) 10) Choose Accept Licence Agreement. Scifinder is now ready for use. Install version Scifinder 2007 (Mac): The software is available via de Blackboard TU Delft distribution server: Log in with your personal Blackboard account ID and password. Then accept the License requirements and go to Scifinder on the Software list and downlaod Scifinder 2007 2) Save "SciFinder Installer" (e.g. on your Desktop) 3) Double click on "SciFinder Installer" and follow the procedure (standard installation). 4) Make an alias (of the application) on the desktop. Configuration: The configuration is for a standard network without firewall and the like. In case of firewalls, proxys and the like, the file needs to be adjusted.

Scifinder Scholar installatie
Per 1 januari 2002 heeft de TU Delft Library toegang op Scifinder Scholar voor 3 gelijktijdige gebruikers zonder de optie voor "sub-structure searching". Om Scifinder te kunnen gebruiken, moet eerst de benodigde sofware op de PC geïnstalleerd worden: Om de software te kunnen downloaden is een blackboard account nodig. Om het account te activeren ga naar Blackboard en volg de “activate account” procedure. Installatie voor PC’s Nieuwe versie Scifinder 2007 installeren (PC): De software wordt aangeboden via de Blackboard TU Delft distribution server : Log in met de persoonlijke Blackboard account gegevens. Vervolgens accepteer de voorwaarden en ga naar Scifinder op de lijst van Software en downlaod de Scifinder 2007 Kies bij voorkeur de directory c:\temp om de software op te slaan. 2) Vervolgens moet het bestand Scifinder 2007.exe "unzipped" worden. Ga naar c:\temp en dubbelklik op Scifinder 2007.exe en volg de instructie. Deze file bevat 4 bestanden die na het unzippen opgeslagen moeten worden in een tijdelijke directory op de locale harde schijf. Kies bij voorkeur C:\temp. - de nederlandse versie van de handleiding (sfsnl.txt) - de engelse versie van de handleiding (sfseng.txt) - de SFSch installer (SFS2007.exe) - de site.prf file (site.prf) 3) Alle programma's afsluiten voor het beginnen met de installatie. 4) Installeren van scifinder: dubbelklik op SFS2007.exe. Volg de standaard installatieprocedure. Gebruik de standaard directory (C:\Sfschlr) voor de installatie van de software. Als er al een oude versie is geïnstalleerd gebruik dan dezelfde directory voor de nieuwe versie. 5) Bij de melding:"Another version of Scifinder Scolar exists in directory. If you continue installation files from existing version will be overwritten. Would you like to continue installation in this directory?" klik op JA. Het is aanbevolen de standaardinstallatie te kiezen. Bij de vraag: Do you have a disk labeled custom site files? klik op NEE. 6) Installeer de SciFinder Scholar toolbar voor Microsoft Internet Explorer. 7) Scifinder is nu in de directory c:\sfschlr geinstalleerd. Herstart de PC na installatie. 8) Om een verbinding met Chemical Abstracts te kunnen maken, moet de file site.prf (uit c:\temp) naar deze C:\sfschlr directory gekopieerd worden. 9) Start de applicatie via Start, Programma's, SciFinder Scholar 2007, SciFinder Scholar (of d.m.v. een snelkoppeling op het bureaublad die verwijst naar c:\sfschlr\sfschlr.exe) 10) Kies Accept Licence Agreement. Scifinder is nu klaar voor gebruik. Nieuwe versie Scifinder 2007 installeren (Mac): De software wordt aangeboden via de Blackboard TU Delft distribution server : Log in met de persoonlijke Blackboard account gegevens. Vervolgens accepteer de voorwaarden en ga naar Scifinder op de lijst van Software en downlaod de Scifinder 2007 2) "SciFinder Installer" opslaan op Desktop b.v. 3) Dubbelklikken op de "SciFinder Installer" en procedure volgen (standaard installatie). 4) alias (van de applicatie) op de desktop aanmaken. Configuratie: De configuratie is voor een standaardnetwerk zonder firewall en dergelijke. In geval van firewalls, proxy’s en dergelijke, moet de file aangepast worden.
