TU Delft Repository:
global showcase for Delft science
The TU Delft Repository is the one-stop digital source in which the University’s academic publications (full text) are made available to the public. TU Delft Library is responsible for the organisation and management of the TU Delft Repository. Day by day, ever more scholars are submitting electronic publications for permanent digital archiving and availability in the TU Delft Repository. For both TU Delft and individual scholars alike, access to this archive offers some significant benefits:
- enhances availability and accessibility of Delft-based research findings;
- promotes academic research both in and beyond TU Delft;
- ensures permanent storage and continued use of academic material. Permanent archiving is coordinated with the e-Depot of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (Royal Library);
- contributes to national and international initiatives, thereby keeping the international public abreast of the latest developments in academic research.
What kind of information is available in the TU Delft Repository?
The TU Delft Repository website provides access to dissertations (4068 as at January 2010), articles, conference proceedings, reviews, patents, lectures, students’ theses and other University research output. Also included are unpublished manuscripts and papers. In principle, all sources are available in full text format.
Authors who wish to have their work included in the Repository must be or have been professionally affiliated with TU Delft during the period in which the publication is or was being composed (or at least one author in the case of co-authored publications). The work must furthermore be of an academic nature.
TU Delft Repository: initiative within nationwide DARE programme
The TU Delft Repository is an initiative within the nationwide NARCIS network. NARCIS has been developed by the KNAW to increase visibility and retrievability of Dutch scientific research. The former DAREnet and information from the Dutch Research Database (NOD) are integrated into one portal. NARCIS gives access to scientific information consisting of (open access) publications from all the Dutch universities, KNAW, NWO, and a number of research institutes. As of January 2010, its repositories hold a total of over 200.000 academic publications. Each university manages its own local repository, while shared content is made available via the NARCIS website (www.narcis.info). International websites in turn harvest these Dutch repositories, an example being OAIster (www.oaister.org).
Permanent storage in KB e-Depot
Long-term storage and permanent access to digital materials in the Institutional Repositories (IRs) – of which the TU Delft Repository is one – is provided through a direct link between the IRs and the KB’s e-Depot, operating under the auspices of the scientific research gateway NARCIS. DARE participants have agreed that this digital material must actually be stored in their digital repositories; externally hosted material is therefore excluded. Specific work agreements have been made as regards the supply of material by the IRs to the KB and by the KB back to the IRs. These agreements were signed on behalf of TU Delft Library on 28-11-2006 by Library Director Maria Heijne, making TU Delft Library an official participant in the e-Depot.

TU Delft Repository: wereldwijde zichtbaarheid van Delftse wetenschap
TU Delft Repository is dé digitale vindplaats van openbare wetenschappelijke publicaties (full text) van de TU Delft. De TU Delft Library is verantwoordelijk voor opzet en beheer van TU Delft Repository.
Steeds meer wetenschappers leveren hun elektronische publicaties aan voor duurzame digitale archivering en beschikbaarheid in TU Delft Repository. Dit heeft niet alleen voor de TU Delft, maar ook voor de individuele wetenschapper belangrijke voordelen:
- Delftse onderzoekresultaten beter beschikbaar en vindbaar maken
- wetenschappelijk onderzoek te promoten binnen en buiten TU Delft
- wetenschappelijk materiaal duurzaam opslaan en blijvend gebruik ervan borgen.
Het duurzaam archiveren gebeurt in samenwerking met het e-depot van de Koninklijke Bibliotheek. - bijdragen aan nationale en internationale initiatieven, zodat het internationale publiek voor wetenschappers op de hoogte blijft van de laatste ontwikkelingen.
Welke informatie treft u aan in TU Delft Repository?
Op de website van TU Delft Repository worden dissertaties (4068 in januari 2010) , artikelen, conference proceedings, recenties, octrooien, redevoeringen, studentenscripties en andere universitaire output aangeboden. Het kan daarbij ook gaan om niet gepubliceerde manuscripten en papers. Uitgangspunt is dat de full text van het materiaal toegankelijk is.
Om opgenomen te worden in de repository zal (een van) de auteur(s) tijdens het schrijven van de publicatie een werkrelatie met de TU Delft moeten hebben, of moeten hebben gehad. Daarnaast moet het document een wetenschappelijke inslag hebben.
TU Delft Repository: initiatief binnen landelijk Narcis netwerk
TU Delft Repository is een initiatief binnen het landelijke NARCIS netwerk. NARCIS is door de KNAW ontwikkeld om de zichtbaarheid en vindbaarheid van Nederlands wetenschappelijk onderzoek te vergroten. Het voormalige DAREnet is geïntegreerd in NARCIS, net als informatie uit de Nederlandse Onderzoek Databank (NOD). NARCIS biedt toegang tot wetenschappelijke informatie waaronder (open access) publicaties afkomstig van alle Nederlandse universiteiten, KNAW, NWO en een aantal wetenschappelijke instellingen. Eind januari 2010 zijn ruim 200.000 wetenschappelijke publicaties in de repositories opgenomen. Elke universiteit heeft het beheer over de lokale repository, de gezamenlijke content is beschikbaar via de Narcis-website www.narcis.info. Een voorbeeld van een internationale website die de Nederlandse repositories harvest is OAIster www.oaister.org.
Duurzame opslag in e-Depot van KB
In het kader van NARCIS is, ten behoeve van langdurige opslag van en permanente toegang tot digitaal materiaal van de Institutional Repositories (IR’s), zoals ook TU Delft Repository, een koppeling tot stand gebracht tussen de IR’s en het e-Depot van de KB. Binnen DARE is afgesproken dat dit digitale materiaal daadwerkelijk in de repository moet zijn opgenomen; extern gehost materiaal behoort hier niet toe. Voor de levering van materiaal door de IR’s aan de KB en voor de teruglevering van materiaal door de KB aan de IR’s zijn werkafspraken opgesteld. Deze zijn 28-11-2006 door Maria Heijne, bibliothecaris TU Delft Library, ondertekend waardoor TU Delft Library deelnemer is van het e-Depot.
